Mental and physical health are intimately linked. Poor physical health can lead to an increased risk of developing mental health problems. Similarly, poor mental health can negatively impact physical health, leading to an increased risk of some conditions. Mental Health America states that in the long-term, stress affects our immune systems. It makes us susceptible to various illnesses from colds to backaches to heart disease. Did you know that depression has been linked to an increased risk of death from heart disease and an increased risk of death from cancer! Bringing balance into your life not only has health benefits, but it also allows you to become more productive and focused.
